Wilderness
Lodge Lake Moeraki is surrounded by towering rainforests and pristine
seacoast. Join nature guides to explore the lakes, rivers, forests,
birds, seals and Fiordland Crested penguins of this area. The Lodge
is landscaped in a lakeside clearing surrounded by 1000 year old
rainforest trees. It offers a high level of comfort in attractive
Lodge rooms (all rooms have private bathrooms) with lounges and
restaurant that overlook the lovely Moeraki rapids. A relaxed
drink and meal in the tranquil Moeraki Lounge as you watch the
river roll by, native birds and trout jumping is a wonderful tonic
in a hectic world.
Garden room
There are 18 modern Lodge rooms, each with private facilities
that each sleep 2 and 8 larger Garden rooms.
Activity
Recreate the pioneering days with the locals, a short walk to
see glow worms and the Southern Cross or short talks on penguins
and the rainforest. Around the log fire you will make new friends
and learn about New Zealand its people as you plan your next day's
adventures.
The Lodge is a paradise for nature lovers and for a relaxing retreat
away from the pressures of the modern world.
Every day, naturalist guides offer two guided activities each
about an hour long, included in the Lodge tariff. You can learn
about the rainforests, discover ferns, orchids, giant native pigeon,
bellbird and tui. We take night walks to see glowworms, the Southern
Cross and freshwater crayfish. We have historical talks and you
can learn easy canoeing… and if you fall out you can help
us to feed our giant tame eels! This program changes every day.
