The
Master’s Lodge is a small luxury lodge positioned in a quiet
cul-de-sac on Bluff Hill in the city of Napier with spectacular
views over the blue Pacific Ocean. The Lodge offers two (2) guest
suites with private ensuites, solarium, living room and lounge,
formal dining room, games room, art deco museum, shady verandahs,
and beautifully maintained flower gardens in park-like grounds.
Additionally, there are outdoor dining areas, a superbly stocked
wine cellar, off-street parking, and much, much more!
Discreetly tucked
away on Bluff Hill with million-dollar views over the blue Pacific
Ocean, The Master’s Lodge represents the ultimate in understated
luxury - available to a maximum of four guests at a time.
Two
superbly appointed and spacious Suites, each with private ensuite
are individually designed for comfort and relaxation, and offering
spectacular views over the city and the Pacific Ocean. Named ‘Kidnappers’
and ‘Deco’, each suite reflects a major Hawke’s
Bay attraction and includes damask cotton bed linens, goosedown
duvets & pillows, walk-in wardrobes, extra towels & bathrobes,
separate shower and bathtub, “Seascape” toiletries,
hair dryers, heated towel racks, Sky-TV, & video in Lounge and
in suite on request, direct dial phone and modem port. The elevated
bathtub in front of the window in the Deco bathroom is a prime spot
to let the day go bye or to welcome the sunrise.

unwind with the sights and fragrances of the flower garden or linger
in our small native bush inhabited by dancing fantails.

complete your Master’s Lodge experience enjoy an intimate "Gourmet
Dinner" complemented by rare local wines served by candlelight
in the Dining Room, on the Verandah or in the Garden. The highlight
for every wine connoisseur staying at the Lodge is certainly the "Private
Dinner with a Local Winemaker". And, for the Art Deco enthusiast,
we can arrange a “Deco Dinner” to include a private tour
of many of the Art Deco buildings in Napier, cocktails at a private
club and a hosted dinner with your personal expert in Art Deco architecture
and painting. Should you wish to dine out, we will happily assist
in making dinner reservations at one of the finest restaurants or
wineries in Hawke’s Bay.

Kidnapper's
Suite: These were the original bedroom, bathroom and toilet
of the ‘Master’ - Gerhard Husheer. The large bedroom
is decorated with selected antique furniture. The colours used in
the three rooms are taken from the colours of the gannet (soft yellow,
off white, light blue and black). Because of its ambience and airiness
this Suite is often booked as a 'Honeymoon Suite'. The
Kidnappers Suite offers a spectacular panorama over the blue Pacific
Ocean, Cape Kidnappers, Napier and Hawke's Bay. The perfect spot
to watch the sunrise.
Deco
Suite: The bedroom and separate sitting area were the private
quarters of Bertha Husheer. The theme of this Suite, as the name
suggests, is Art Deco and features a queen size bed.
The
Deco Suite has extensive views over the Pacific Ocean, Cape Kidnappers,
the Art Deco city and the Mediterranean landscaped garden of the
Lodge. Here you can enjoy the setting sun the longest.
The
adjoining former maids bedroom has been converted into a private
and unique Art Deco en-suite. Apart from the stylish setting with
its half-wall in the middle of the room, the focal point is the
elevated bathtub with ‘million-dollar-views’ over
the Pacific Ocean. You will be tempted to have a leisurely bath!
Both
Suites are equipped with walk-in wardrobes, extra towels, separate
shower and bathtub, hair dryers, heated towel racks, Sky-TV &
video in Lounge and insuite on request, Sky-TV, video, direct
dial phone and modem port.

Experience'. Your clients will be hosted by world famous Deco
Ambassador Clarence Bertram St John Fitz Montague, aka “Bertie”,
for an evening combining a city tour by vintage car, dressing
in Deco costumes (optional), as well as pre-dinner cocktails at
an historic private club or residence and followed by a Gourmet
dinner at The Master’s Lodge with Bertie. A ‘must’

Join Master Chef Kent Baddeley in The Master’s Kitchen for a
special opportunity to learn to prepare the evening’s culinary
delights. This is a ”hands-on” opportunity for your clients
to actually help the Chef prepare their own meal. The Chef will showcase
the finest in fresh local foods, demonstrate professional culinary
techniques and fabulous food presentation, and your clients will work
with the master chef. They will then enjoy the fruits of their labour,
dining by candlelight in the Master’s Dining Room.
